Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Kagekotoba and this website handle information. Kagekotoba is an independent Japanese-learning app operated by Daichi Sakagoshi.

Kagekotoba 1.0.0 and later

At a glance

Your learning progress stays on your device. No Kagekotoba account is required. Purchases are verified by our service, and Apple handles payment. Advertising and update providers process the information described below.

For privacy questions or requests, contact appmake080888@gmail.com. You can also find purchase and data help on our support page.

Information stored on your device

Kagekotoba stores learning progress, selected explanation language, sound and motion preferences, earned or purchased scroll balances, stage-clear advertising milestones, processed StoreKit transaction identifiers, a pseudonymous installation identifier, and the Remove Ads entitlement locally on your device. The installation identifier is stored using iOS secure storage; it is not your Apple ID.

The app does not provide a Kagekotoba account, cloud sync, or a device-transfer service. Deleting the app may delete local progress and consumable balances. A restorable non-consumable purchase can be restored through StoreKit.

Accounts and analytics

Kagekotoba does not ask you to create an account and does not send custom first-party analytics events. Service providers described below may process limited technical information to provide updates, consent controls, advertising, purchases, diagnostics, or feedback. Purchase verification is described separately below.

Optional purchases

The app offers optional consumable scroll packs and a non-consumable Remove Ads purchase through Apple StoreKit. Apple presents the purchase sheet and handles the App Store account, payment, storefront, refund, and transaction relationship under Apple's policies. Kagekotoba receives product, localized-price, entitlement, transaction, environment, purchase-date, quantity, refund, and revocation information needed to deliver the purchase and prevent duplicate grants.

Before Kagekotoba grants a production purchase, it sends Apple's signed transaction token, product and transaction identifiers, and a pseudonymous installation identifier to Kagekotoba's purchase verification service. The service verifies Apple's signature and app identity, then keeps a durable grant record so the same consumable is not delivered twice. It also receives signed App Store server notifications for refunds and revocations. The service does not receive your payment-card details or Apple ID credentials.

The verification service validates the signed transaction token and does not retain that token after verification. Its durable ledger retains the transaction and original-transaction identifiers, product, pseudonymous installation identifier, quantity, purchase and revocation state, grant state, and notification metadata needed to prevent duplicate delivery and honor refunds or revocations. It can recheck a transaction with Apple's App Store Server API and receives App Store Server Notifications V2.

If Apple sends a consumption-information request, Kagekotoba records and deduplicates the notification for audit. Because the app does not separately ask you to consent to that disclosure, it does not send consumption time, play time, refund preference, or similar usage information to Apple in response.

Purchase-ledger records are retained as needed to operate restores, prevent duplicate grants and fraud, respond to refunds, and meet legal obligations. TestFlight purchases use Apple's sandbox and do not charge the tester.

Advertising, rewards, and privacy choices

Unless Remove Ads is active, Kagekotoba may request one Google interstitial after every third completed regular learning stage. It is requested only after the stage result and reward have been saved. Optional rewarded ads are also available for the twice-daily gacha opportunity and tower recovery. A reward is granted only after the ad provider confirms completion. An unavailable, failed, offline, or unconsented ad never blocks ordinary learning.

Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform may process an IP address, device identifiers, coarse location, app and device information, consent choices, product interactions, advertising data, crash data, performance data, and other diagnostic information to provide, measure, secure, and troubleshoot advertising and privacy controls. The production release always requests non-personalized ads. In version 1.0.2 (17) and later, Kagekotoba requests Apple App Tracking Transparency permission on first active launch, before requesting Google consent information or starting the advertising SDK. Only after you allow tracking does the app request regional consent and, where permitted, start advertising. Advertising partners may use device identifiers for measurement across apps and websites. If you decline, are restricted, or have not decided, the app does not start the consent or advertising SDK and ads stay off; ordinary learning remains available. Non-personalized ad requests do not by themselves rule out measurement using identifiers. Earlier versions did not request ATT. Privacy Choices is available in Settings when required by the consent SDK, including after Remove Ads is purchased.

Remove Ads disables stage-break interstitials but does not remove the optional rewarded-ad choices, because those ads are requested only when you choose a reward. European-regulation and supported US-state privacy messages are managed through Google's consent platform. Learn more in the Google Privacy Policy.

App updates and technical services

The native Swift app, version 1.0.2 and later, receives updates through Apple and does not contain Expo or request Expo updates.

Versions before the native Swift release use Expo Application Services to check for and deliver compatible updates. In providing this service, Expo may process network and device information such as an IP address, operating system, app and project identifiers, a randomized installation token, and diagnostic or performance information. This service is not used by Kagekotoba for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Learn more in the Expo Privacy Policy.

Kagekotoba's hosting provider supplies the purchase-verification endpoint and may process network metadata needed to route, secure, and troubleshoot a request. The purchase ledger itself does not store the requester's IP address.

Apple and TestFlight

Apple operates the App Store, StoreKit, and TestFlight. Apple may process account, storefront, payment, installation, device, session, crash, and feedback information under Apple's terms and privacy practices.

See the Apple Privacy Policy.

Japanese speech and sound

Japanese playback uses the speech service provided by iOS. Kagekotoba does not request microphone access or upload recorded voice. Sound effects and music are included in the app and played locally.

External source links

In the native Swift app, source and licence links open in the system browser after you choose them. The following in-app browser description applies to earlier versions.

Source and licence links open only after you choose them. A selected page may load inside an in-app browser, which sends a request to that destination. The destination's privacy policy applies to its page and any links you choose there.

Feedback and support

If you contact support, the operator receives the email address and message you send, plus any app version, device model, operating-system version, screenshot, or reproduction information you choose to provide. This information is used to respond, diagnose the issue, prevent duplicate work, and improve Kagekotoba.

Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to answer and investigate the request or meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of a support message by emailing appmake080888@gmail.com. Do not send passwords or other sensitive information.

TestFlight feedback may also include a screenshot, crash context, app version, device model, and operating-system version selected by the tester. Apple explains that process in its TestFlight feedback guide.

Children and age suitability

Kagekotoba is a general-audience language-learning app and is not in Apple's Kids category. It does not ask users to enter a date of birth. Check the App Store listing for the age rating in your region. The app includes advertising, fantasy combat, weapon imagery, and links to external pages.

This website

These information pages use Google Firebase Hosting. When you visit these pages, the hosting infrastructure processes network information such as your IP address and browser request to deliver and protect the website. These information pages do not add advertising or analytics scripts. Choosing an external link sends a request to the destination site.

Your choices and requests

In version 1.0.2 (17) and later, manage tracking permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. In Kagekotoba Settings, Privacy Choices appears when the consent SDK requires it after tracking authorization. Earlier versions provide privacy choices under More. Available choices depend on your region. Removing Ads does not remove applicable privacy controls.

There is no Kagekotoba account to delete. Removing the app may erase local learning progress and scroll balances; do not uninstall it to troubleshoot a missing purchase. Some secure-storage identifiers may remain on the device.

Contact us to ask about, correct, or request deletion of information we hold about you. We may ask for enough information to verify and locate your request. Records needed for purchase restoration, fraud prevention, refunds, or legal obligations may need to be retained. Requests about information controlled by Apple, Google, or Expo can also be directed to those providers through their policies linked above.

Changes to this policy

This policy and the App Store privacy answers will be reviewed before Kagekotoba adds accounts, cloud sync, custom analytics, crash reporting, notifications, new purchase types, or otherwise changes its data handling materially. The effective date above identifies the current version.
